More news from the Caledonia Quilt Guild

Members of the Caledonia Quilt Guild honored 37 veterans with a handmade lap quilt as part of the Guild’s two-day show, “A Garden of Quilts,” on Aug. 8 and 9.

This year the Guild focused on veterans from World War II and the Korean War  who are members of Caledonia VFW Post 10844 and Matthew Cleary Post American Legion Post 255.

“The Guild sews these quilts for our veterans to honor and show you our appreciation for the sacrifices you and your families have made,” Guild member Gail Milner said in her presentation to the veterans.

Several guild members sewed the 37 lap quilts, each with a unique poppy design. Five of the 37 veterans were able to attend the presentation. Guild members plan to deliver the remaining quilts to the homebound veterans.

“It is with gratitude and thanks that Caledonia Quilt Guild presents these lap quilts to you. Our hope is that every time you use them they wrap you in the love and thanks you deserve,” Milner said.
